Located in the southern range of Jim Corbett, Jhirna is the park's all-season zone — the only area where permits are issued even during the July–September monsoon when all other zones are closed. This makes it a vital option for travellers visiting during the rains, or those who want to experience Corbett's jungle in its lushest, greenest form.
The zone is particularly celebrated for sloth bear sightings — these shaggy, termite-loving animals are more reliably spotted in Jhirna than anywhere else in the park. The terrain is a mix of dry deciduous and moist forest with natural water holes that attract wildlife throughout the day.
🐻 Sloth Bear Capital
Jhirna records more sloth bear sightings than any other zone in Jim Corbett. These rare, nocturnal mammals are unexpectedly active here during daytime — especially near termite mounds and fruiting trees.
